One of the key missions of the Auxilary is to support the Coast Guard's Office of Boating Safety with the development and implementation of recreational boating programs. These programs include: vessel examinations, boat dealer visitations, teaching boating safety and seamanship courses, boat show exhibits, and National Safe Boating Week activities.
Vessel safety checks are provided free to owners and operators f recreational boats. Flotilla 1-2 members conduct vessel exams at Chatfield lake during the boating season.
The Boating Safety Visitation program provides boating safety information to recreational users. Auxiliarists visit dealers reqularly to supply them with boating safety information and materail. Dealers also help promote boating safety through publicizing local Auliliary public education courses and vessel safety checks.
Auxiliarists teach several courses from basic boating safety to advanced navigation courses. These courses include:
Some of these courses will satisfy state boating regulations if applicable and may also qualify for a discount on boat insurance.
