MT – Good turnout for OPEX; nearly one-third of the Division members were present. Crew mentoring was

Alpha uniform has been discontinued. The un-tucked ODU is only available to new members and only

one set is authorized.

OP – Only about half of the members have completed “Hours of Operation” report. Ranger Colin at Chatfield

State Park wants a report on what the Auxiliary does there on the water. Need pictures of activities while

Patrolling at Chatfield. There is a need for training for new Coxswains on how to request orders and

Request reimbursement. While at Pueblo Reservoir over 4th of July as good samaritan observed a

jet ski with 3 people towing water toys. “Kids Don’t Float” – saw new baby, no life jacket, strapped to boat.

PA – “Rooftop Car Show” – appreciate participation. Fourth year that the Flotilla has participated. Attended Ops

Course C School in Seattle. Had tour of a cutter. Trying to promote Public Affairs in Denver Area. Contacted

10 resources (i.e. Wolf 925 – Spanish radio station). No one had heard of CGAux. Some stations were

willing to do a public service announcement; some wanted pay for running announcements.

PE – Two PE classes for June – “Colorado State Safe Boating” and “How to Read a Nautical Chart”.

submit.

UNIT TRAINING TOPICS PRESENTED

MEMBER TRAINING : E. Warren – “Public Affairs is Everyone’s Responsibility”

REMARKS (include special events, future plans, awards presented, special guests present, etc.)

OLD BUSINESS:

(1) Dragon Boat Festival – will not provide support this year.

(2) URS (Washington DIV) /Rooftop Extravaganza – great exposure for Auxiliary, great lunch; talked with

lots of people.

(3) 4th of July patrols – good patrols; has 2 boats for 3 days.

(4) FC-Lones – Weekend Navigator Course scheduled to begin 9/17. Have 2 people so far. Encourage

members to sign up for course.

NEW BUSINESS:

(1) Coxswain equipment – float coats and exposure suits – per J. Redin submit request to FSO-OP Cook;

maybe able to get by next spring.

(2) On water training program – should pursue. FC-Lones will put together fair dollar value for 4-hr. sessions.

Need qualified coxswains and instructors. Per D. Stark, training must be on member boats.

(3) PA-Warren presented possibility of having Flotilla fund small advertisements with local radio stations to

promote the Auxiliary (i.e.; $25 message would provide exposure to public about what CGAux does,( i.e.,

training classes, etc.) Of the stations contacted, only Spanish Station would charge $25; other stations would

run ads at no charge as a public service ad. FC-Lones suggests taking dollars from FC-Discretionary Fund.

AWARDS:

D. Stark – 10th Service Award

COMMENTS;

(1) FC-Lones provided information on annual Coast Guard Birthday Party to be held August 8th at Peyton, CO.

(2) P. Cook noted his name missing in June, 2009 Minutes. Correction will be made.
